As the streets fill with blood the Canucks have started the season 3-3

This street is full of blood, and in related news Tomas Hertl had that really awesome goal against the Rangers.

Academics often have silly games about what incongruous thing they can get into print, resulting in things like penguin diagrams and the boojum. Well, all of that is child’s play compared to the work of one Phil Mushnick who manages to start a sports column in the sports section of a major daily newspaper with “As the streets continue to fill with blood…” The column is a bunch of stupid bullshit, sadly. But that first line is untouchable. I will now start everything I ever have to say about sports with “As the streets continue to fill with blood…”

      I know. When you somehow manage to sound uncommonly stupid and racist and crazy-old-man-like for a sports pundit (where, you know, we’re comparing you to Don Cherry, among other people, for example), it’s just… wow…
